Some unexpected results in the first week of the NFL season resulted in dramatic changes in the TSN.ca NFL Power Rankings, with the New England Patriots emerging on top. The Patriots started the season in second spot and, on the heels of Tom Brady passing for 517 yards against Miami, climbed over the falling Pittsburgh Steelers for the number one ranking, followed by the Green Bay Packers and San Diego Chargers. Some of the early risers, coming off big Week One wins, include the Houston Texans, moving from 11 to four, the Baltimore Ravens, from 15 to six, and Detroit Lions, from 17th to eight. The biggest jump of the week belongs to the Buffalo Bills, who moved from 30 to 14 after demolishing Kansas City in Kansas City. Not surprisingly, then, the Chiefs were one of the biggest drops, going from six to 16, while the Colts and Rams also plummeted after decisive Week One losses. Will results reverse themselves again in Week Two? Until a few more weeks get into the books, and a larger sample size is available, the rankings are likely to be relatively unstable, so more changes could be forthcoming. Tyson Chandler had his third straight double-double with 14 points and 11 rebounds.Nowitzki passed Olajuwon with a jumper from just inside the 3-point line early in the fourth quarter.Ramon Sessions scored 18 points for the Kings, and DeMarcus Cousins had 16 points, 11 rebounds and five assists.Sacramento looked ppoised to win a regular-season game in Dallas for the first time since Feb.dddddddddddd 27, 2003.
